Nintendo today revealed in a private businessy-type conference thing their new Wii Channel - Wii Software (or WiiWare for my American chums).
Wii Software will be aimed at developers who might not be able to afford to make games with massive budgets and full-blown FMVs. This will be Nintendo's answer to the 360's Arcade, if you will, except with entirely original content. The Virtual Console will take care of the rest.
European Marketing Director, Laurent Fischer, explains “Wii Software provides developers with big ideas, rather than big budgets, an easy and very accessible way to create new games and bring them to the marketplace, as well as offering great additional value for Wii owners who will be able to download fresh new games.”
Wii Software will launch in early 2008, and titles will be bought using Wii Points "with a variety of pricing options" available.
